Q&A - Jim halo | Fashion Eyewear | Affordable Glasses

Q&A

Frames

What frame style is best for me?

Method 1 (based on your face shape)

-Round Face Shape: you may choose rectangle, browline, and geometric frames.

-Square Face Shape: you may choose round and oval glasses.

-Oval Face Shape: you may choose almost any frame.

-Diamond Face Shape: you may choose oval and browline glasses.

-Heart Face Shape: you may choose square and aviator glasses.

-Triangle Face Shape: you may choose browline and rectangle glasses.

All the recommendations bases on face shape are just suggestion to help you find the most flattering frames, you can also choose the one you like, that’s the most important factor for selecting the best frame.

Method 2 (not related to face shapes)

Step1. Consider your face width

The width of your face is the distance across your face from temple to temple. e.g. If I have a wide face, I need to wear wide glasses.

We print the frame width on the actual frames and include this size on the product pages. You can add up lens width and bridge width to get the frame width.

1).For narrow face width(115-127mm), you may choose narrow frames(118-128mm).

2).For medium face width(128-138mm), you may choose medium frames(129-139mm).

3).For wide face width(>140mm), you may choose wide frames(140-150mm).

Step2. Consider your face length

Face length is the distance from the top of your forehead to the bottom of your chin. If your face is about as long as its wide, you have a short face. If the length of your face is one and a half times the width of your face or more, you have a long face. e.g. If I have a long face, I need to wear tall frames.

You can find the lens height listed on the product page.

1). Short frames: lens height <36mm

2). Medium frames: lens height of 36-44mm

3). Tall frames: lens height > 44mm

Step3. Consider your facial features

Everybody’s face is made up of a bunch of lines.  Some people have a round face and some have a chiseled jaw.

1). If you have extremely round features, you should avoid extremely round frames.

2). If you have extremely angular features you should avoid extremely angular frames.

3). If you have a mix of curvy and straight features, just find the right size glasses.

How do I know if my frames fit?

  1. Pupils must be near the center of the lens.
  2. The lenses mustn’t go beyond the side of your face.
  3. Your eyebrows shouldn’t be inside the glass.
  4. Your cheeks shouldn’t push the frame up when you smile.
  5. The frames shouldn’t slide down your nose.

Where do I find my frame measurement?

Usually you can find size numbers printed on the interiors of the temple arm. You can find some numbers, like this: 57 16 145 or 57-16-145. The first 2-digit number means lens width, the second 2-digit number means bridge width, the 3-digit number means temple length.

To know how well a pair will fit you, we recommend you compare the measurements of your current glasses to the frame sizes mentioned on our product pages.

What frame material is right for me?

It depends on your demand. Here are some information to help you make a choice:

-Material: Most frames are made of metal or plastic or mixed material. Metal frame is usually lighter while plastic frames are more durable. And acetate is durable and unlikely to cause skin irritation.

-Weight: If you want an extreme light frame, select frames of 15 grams or lower. Titanium frames are usually very light.

-Color: Metal frames are usually gold, silver and black. But plastic frames may have more color options.

Hypoallergenic: Stainless steel, acetate and titanium frames are hypoallergenic.

What frames can have custom engraving?

Custom engraving can be added to most of our acetate and plastic frames as long as they have wide temples. Once you selected a frame, you can find if custom engraving is open to order for this frame in its “Personalization”.

What can I do if my frames don’t fit perfectly?

New glasses may need minor adjustment to fit your face. It’s best to have an optician fine-tune the glasses for you, but you can also make adjustments by your own.

Lens

What do the Lens Index numbers mean & Which one should I choose?

The Lens Index number (1.56, 1.61, 1.67) refers to the degree of refraction our lens provides. It indicates the thickness of lenses. The higher the index number, the thinner the lenses will be. When you fill in your prescription, we may have a recommendation of the lens index number based on your prescription, so you can take it as a reference.

How do I read my prescription?

How do I read my prescription?

1、You can get your prescription from your eye doctor. Eyeglass prescriptions may be different, but most of them are printed or handwritten in horizontal rows. The first row is the prescription for the right eye (OD), and the second row is for the left eye (OS). And you can see three values of each row, Sphere (SPH), Cylinder (CYL), and Axis.

-SPH: nearsighted [indicated with a minus (-)],farsighted [indicated with a plus (+)]

-CYL and AXIS (appear in pairs): correct for astigmatism.

And some of you may have another field labeled as ADD, which is used in a bifocal or progressive lens.

2、Lastly, we need pupillary distance (PD) to determine where the optical center of the lens should be, so we can make lenses of clear, accurate vision. Your prescriptions usually include the PD. If your doctor does not provide your PD, you can measure it yourself with our next here.

How do I get thinner lenses?

The lens that is preselected as a recommended choice when you fill in your prescription will be the best choice for your Rx. If you have a strong Rx, you can select a higher lens index number. The higher the index number, the thinner the lenses will be.

What are photochromic lenses?

Photochromic lenses are eyeglass lenses that are clear (or nearly clear) indoors and darken automatically when exposed to sunlight. We provide photochromic lenses for 1.56 lenses for both single-vision and readers. We support gray, tea, pink, purple, blue, orange, yellow, brown, green photochromic lenses, which you can find when you select “Photochromic” and then click “Customization”.

What are anti-blue light lenses?

Anti-blue light lenses protect your eyes from the harmful blue light, which is emitted from electronic devices, like laptops, smartphones, and tablets.

What is harmful blue light?

Blue light has a short wavelength, making it super high in energy. Exposure to blue light can cause eye discomfort, but you can give your eyes a break by enhancing your glasses with a blue light-reducing lens.

Who should wear blue light glasses?

People who spend a lot of their time indoors and are exposed to harmful blue light from LEDs as well as TV, computer, or tablet screens for more than 8 hours, especially working in the office.

Why select JH-BlueCare® Lens?

Jim Halo glasses are matched with a Jim Halo patented developed blue-blocking lens, JH-BlueCare® Lens. It has the same blue light filtering effect as big lens brands in the market. Its price is only 30% lower than the similar ones, as Jim Halo team purchases the lens from the leading lens material manufacturer directly.

Sunglasses

Can I order prescription sunglasses?

Yes! After you choose a pair of sunglasses, you can click “Prescription” to add your prescription. Note that some sunglasses may not support prescription, which you can find in its product page. If there’s no any note, it’s open to order prescription.

What are Polarized lenses?

When a lens is polarized, it can block bright, reflected light. When glare is reduced, you can see surroundings more clearly and your eyes may feel more comfortable.

Polarized glasses are very popular among people who spend a lot of time outdoors, like driving, fishing, boating or lounging on the beach.

Advantages of polarized sunglasses:

-Excellent glare reduction around bodies of water

-Better visibility when driving on the road

-More vibrant colors and contrast among  scenery

What is the difference between Photochromic and Polarized lenses?

-Photochromic lenses are eyeglass lenses that are clear (or nearly clear) indoors and darken automatically when exposed to sunlight.

-Polarized lenses can’t change color and are good at reducing glare, especially for for outdoors.

How to choose the color of sunglasses

-Brown sunglasses: can fully absorb ultraviolet and infrared rays. The soft brown color can improve the clarity of vision and make the eyes comfortable, especially in dusty and foggy weather.

-Gray sunglasses: For those who often drive or be outdoors, you can choose neutral color sunglasses, such as gray. The gray lens will weaken the light and show the true color of the object itself. It is the most ideal lens color.

-Green sunglasses: can effectively absorb ultraviolet rays, protect the eyes as well as make the eyes comfortable, but the green lenses will change the color of the objects seen by the eyes and affect the visual effect. But it’s good for some young friends who pursue fashion.

-Silver sunglasses: have a reflective silver coating on the lens. They are sunglasses that can reflect strong sunlight and are especially suitable for wearing on snow or outdoors when suffering from strong sunlight.

-Yellow sunglasses: can not only fully absorb ultraviolet rays, but also absorb the blue light emitted by sunlight. After eliminating the blue light, the vision will be clearer. It is the best choice for hunting under strong light.
